Today GizmoData Cloud is generally available, and anyone can sign up at app.gizmodata.com. It is fully managed GizmoSQL: DuckDB's speed, served over Apache Arrow Flight SQL, running on AWS, Google Cloud and Microsoft Azure. You don't run any of the infrastructure yourself.
Sign up, name your organization, pick a region, and you have a GizmoSQL cluster you can connect to from JDBC, ODBC, Python, a BI tool or an AI assistant. There are no Kubernetes manifests, no TLS certificates to rotate and no license keys to paste.
Why we built it
DuckDB is the fastest analytical engine most teams have ever used, but it is an in-process library. GizmoSQL turns it into a real server, with concurrent sessions, authentication, TLS and a standard wire protocol. That is why companies like Summation and Randoli run it in production, and why it finished the full TPC-H 1 TB benchmark in 80 seconds on a single VM for about $0.17, faster than Snowflake, Databricks SQL and BigQuery.
Running a server well is still work, though. Someone has to pick machine shapes, keep nodes patched, wire up object storage and a catalog, manage credentials, scale for the Monday-morning rush and turn it all off at night. For most teams that work is the reason they stay on an expensive warehouse. GizmoData Cloud does that work for you.
What you get
- GizmoSQL clusters on three clouds. Launch clusters on the latest Arm compute each cloud offers, including AWS Graviton 5 (the chip that ran TPC-H 1 TB in 80 seconds) and Graviton 4, Google Axion and Azure Cobalt 100, in memory-optimized shapes with local NVMe SSD, from a priced menu that shows the hourly cost before you click Create. At launch, self-serve organizations run in AWS US East 2, Google Cloud us-east4 and Azure East US.
- DuckLake catalogs. DuckLake is the open lakehouse format from the DuckDB team. A catalog is created in a few clicks, backed by GizmoData-managed storage or your own bucket, and can be mounted to any number of clusters, so teams share one copy of the data. Public TPC-H catalogs are ready to query on day one.
- Federated queries. Clusters ship with 14 ADBC drivers (Snowflake, Oracle, PostgreSQL, IBM Db2, BigQuery, Databricks, Redshift, SQL Server, MySQL, Trino, Exasol, Arrow Flight SQL, DuckDB Quack and GizmoSQL). Store the credentials as a secret,
ATTACHthe remote database, and join it against your DuckLake tables in one query. That makes it easy to move workloads off a warehouse one table at a time. - Connect from anything. Every cluster has ready-to-copy connection details for JDBC, ODBC, Python ADBC, SQLAlchemy, Ibis and PySpark, plus an MCP configuration for AI assistants like Claude through the GizmoSQL MCP server.
- A built-in SQL editor, scripts and notebooks, so you can query without installing anything.
- Autoscaling. Set minimum and maximum replicas and scale on CPU and memory, or on a schedule. Stop a cluster when you don't need it and start it again later with its settings intact.
- Governance built in. Organizations, projects and environments, with Admin, Writer and Reader roles inherited down the tree and an audit trail for org admins. Sign in with Google, Microsoft, Apple or GitHub.
Pricing: prepaid, and every dollar comes back as compute
Self-serve plans are prepaid monthly tiers. The plan fee is returned to you in full as compute credit, and clusters draw it down at the hourly price you saw when you created them:
- Starter: $29/month, up to 8 vCPUs running at once
- Team: $99/month, up to 32 vCPUs
- Business: $499/month, up to 128 vCPUs
Managed storage is $0.05 per GB-month. Usage beyond your credit is billed at the same hourly rates. If you would rather have a hard cap, turn on "Stop when my credit runs out". Enterprise plans with custom quotas, contracts and Cloud at Customer (the same platform inside your own cloud accounts) are available by agreement. Full details are on the pricing page.

GizmoData Cloud doesn't change our commitment to open source. GizmoSQL Core remains free and Apache-2.0 licensed, and GizmoSQL Enterprise is still available to run in your own environment. GizmoData Cloud is for teams who would rather spend their time on queries than on infrastructure.
